Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the questions we get most often.
Linking your Clash of Clans account
Why do I need to link my Clash of Clans account?
Uploading bases requires a linked account. It confirms that a real player stands behind every upload, which keeps BaseMelon free of spam and the quality of the bases high.
It also shows who built a base: your nickname appears on the bases you built, and your player tag, Town Hall, clan and league too if you choose to show them.
Is it safe?
Yes. The API token is a one-time code from the game settings that only proves the account is yours. It cannot be used to log in, make purchases or change anything in your account, and it gives no access to your Supercell ID.
We send it once to the official Clash of Clans API to confirm your player tag and never store it.
Want to read what other players say? See these Reddit discussions: sharing your API token and what the API token is and whether it is safe.
Where do I find my player tag?
The tag is in your in-game profile, under your name, and starts with #.
-
1. Tap your profile picture or your name in the top left corner. Your profile opens.
-
2. The tag is under your name. To copy it, tap the share button next to your name.
-
3. Tap Copy, then paste the tag on BaseMelon.
Where do I find the API token?
The token is in the game: open your profile, then Settings → More Settings.
-
1. Tap your profile picture or your name in the top left corner. Your profile opens.
-
2. Tap the Settings tab.
-
3. Tap More Settings.
-
4. Find API Token (scroll down if needed) and tap Show. The button turns into Copy: tap it, then paste the token on BaseMelon.
The API token is not accepted. What now?
A token works only once and is replaced every time you open it, so copy a fresh one right before you paste it. Also check that the player tag belongs to the account you are playing in the game.
What do you show about my player?
By default only your nickname, your avatar, your social links and how many of your bases are on BaseMelon, with a "Verified player" badge. Your player tag and game stats (in-game name, Town Hall and Builder Hall levels, experience level, clan, league and trophies) stay hidden unless you tick Show my player tag and game stats when linking or later on the Account tab. They come from the official Clash of Clans API and are refreshed every hour. Your email address is never shown.
Can I change or remove the linked player?
A linked player tag cannot be changed on the site. If you need help, for example because the player is linked to an account you no longer use, contact us at [email protected].
Can I upload a base someone else built?
Yes, as long as it is a good base that is not on BaseMelon yet. When uploading, uncheck I built this base and enter the builder's name, or leave it empty if you do not know who built it. The base is then not linked to your player.
Uploading bases
What bases can I upload?
Complete Trophy/Defense, War and Farm bases built for their purpose, and bases for the Progress category: progress bases that show a village's upgrades at a glance, and troll, art and fun bases where the walls draw a symbol, word or picture. Who built the base does not matter, as long as it is not on BaseMelon yet. All details are in the base requirements.
Can I delete a base I uploaded?
Once a base is published, it becomes part of the BaseMelon community: other players copy it into their villages, rate it and share it with friends. That's why published bases stay on BaseMelon, even if you delete your account. Bases waiting for review can still be approved and published.
Your account
How do I change my avatar?
Avatars come with a linked Clash of Clans player. On your profile, tap your avatar next to the page title, then pick one of the suggested avatars or upload your own picture. Uploaded pictures are checked automatically before they appear: no nudity, violence, hate or political symbols, drugs or offensive text, and photos of people only if they are adults.
What is my profile link?
Once your first base is published, you get a public profile with all the bases credited to you, for example basemelon.com/coc-bases/YourName. You choose the name on the Account tab: 3–20 letters, numbers or _. You can change it once every 30 days, and old links keep leading to your profile. Names of Supercell, BaseMelon and popular creators are reserved to avoid confusion.
How do I delete my account?
Open the Account tab of your profile, open Danger zone at the bottom and choose Delete account. Your email address, nickname, avatar, social links and the link to your Clash of Clans player are deleted right away, and you are logged out on every device. If you like, you can also remove your name from the bases you built.
What happens to my bases when I delete my account?
They stay on BaseMelon, so other players can keep using them, and bases waiting for review can still be approved and published. Your bases keep their builder name, unless you tick Also remove my name from the bases I built when you delete your account. Then they stay, just without your name.
